During the initial consultation, your comprehensive health history and primary reasons for seeking treatment will be discussed in detail. Questions are asked regarding health, symptoms and lifestyle. An appropriate physical exam is conducted, including pulse and tongue diagnosis. This information is used to determine where Qi has become blocked or imbalanced and to create an effective treatment plan.
Acupuncture: After the initial consultation, you will lie on a massage table while the needles are inserted at specific points on the face & body. The needles will be left in for 15-30 minutes and then removed. A relaxing facial massage completes your treatment.
In addition to acupuncture, other modalities that may be used during your treatment include:
Moxibustion: The process of burning a herb called mugwort over specific acupuncture points or areas of pain. Moxibustion warms the energy channels, moves stagnation and tonifies Qi and blood. It can be used to improve circulation, alleviate pain and strengthen vitality in the body.
Cupping: The process of applying glass cups with suction to particular areas of the body. Cupping can be used in the case of muscle pain or tension, to break up phlegm in the lungs, move stagnation, and to release toxins and heat from the body.
